Tesselate
TESSELLATE marks a new chapter for the label, an homage to Le Corbusier’s architectural marvel, the Tower of Shadows. Ahead of its time, this partially open pavilion from the 1950s finds striking relevance today. Its study of proportion, perspective, texture, and structure informs a fresh minimalism that celebrates modern India. The collection explores the intersection of fashion and architecture through sharp angular lines, layered forms, and bold colour blocking. An interplay of checks, stripes, and dots. Balancing stark restraint with intricate handcraft, Urvashi reimagines hand pleating, kantha, and block print placements across engineered silhouettes that fuse form and functionality.
Guided by the freedom of movement and the ease of being, Tessellate presents trans-seasonal, androgynous resort pieces that move effortlessly from dawn to dusk. Artisanal weaves in naturally dyed yarns, cotton and silk jamdani, fine mulmul, mulberry silk, chanderi, khadi, and khes unfold in restorative neutrals of ecru, charcoal, ochre, and slate, offset by brick and indigo. Rooted in innovation and craftsmanship, the collection bridges the handmade and the futuristic, evolving through vision, collaboration, and an enduring commitment to a more inclusive tomorrow.
